I realized some years back that the most spiritual people I knew were also the most down-to-earth people I knew. Those who knew God best were the most ordinary, common-sense of all people. They were not superstitious. They were full of the holy Ghost and joy, and they were not attracted to the entertainments and affairs of this world, but neither were they afraid of them. The peace of God reigned in their hearts, and so, they were free to be normal.
The way of true holiness is not the way of monasticism; rather, it is the pathway of self-denial, which includes denying self the fleshly pleasure of appearing holy before men by dressing up like a monk or a nun, or any other such religious official. True holiness is the way of walking among men as a man without sin.
