Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

The One Faith

From a sermon by Preacher Clark at Grandma’s house, early 1970s.
Gary’s Reel 3, CD-9b, Tracks 2-3

James exhorted the saints to stand for the faith, but which one? There is only one faith (Eph. 4:5). And Preacher Clark pointed out in the prayer meeting that day that James told us to “contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints, not for any of the faiths men have figured out.”

There is not one Christian sect whose doctrine is of God. Jesus was not a Christian, and he has not founded any Christian church. The faith of Christ is not the faith of Christianity because Christianity is not “the faith that was once delivered to the saints.” Christianity is the faith that came later, and using the military and political might of Rome, ruined the faith that God had delivered to the saints by Jesus and the apostles and persecuted those who clung to that holy faith.

But Jesus is going to win. The faith that was once delivered to the saints is becoming known again. God created the World Wide Web (the internet) just for that purpose, and it will bring to nothing all the faiths that were not “once delivered to the saints” but were devised out of the imaginations of men.

Pastor John:

In other words, six ones equal one faith.
