Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.
Select a thought to read by choosing a collection, the month, and then the day:
“Who are you that you judge another man’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls.”
Paul, in Romans 14:4
Pastor John:
This morning after Amanda and I had breakfast I was going to watch the news, but when I turned on the TV, there was a man named L-- J-- preaching. He had a bright red suit on, with his shirt halfway buttoned and a big shiny necklace with a huge cross on it. He reminded me of the way an early 70s pimp used to dress. He was going around to people and saying, “God told me what your problem is,” and pretty much guessing after a brief conversation. For those who seemed to have serious problems, he would have big guys in suits who looked like his bouncers, give them a small vile of water and say they would never have that problem again after drinking it. This went on and on.....
I have heard everyone say different things about Christianity but never really understood. A lot of people told me I was blessed to not have to go through Christianity. Now I understand and even more so. I feel what they were talking about. There was absolutely no good feelings in what that man was saying. He was just completely insulting God in my eyes. You’re right. God’s people need help, and I am glad God chose me so I can be blessed with all those right feelings and priceless teachings. I just hope those ones that are really looking for God find Him before the end.
Amen, thank God for all the blessings He has given us.

Hi Stephen,
That TV evangelist may actually have a real gift from God for healing, but having a gift and using a gift in a way that brings honor to God are two completely different things.
I have wondered at times about why some people who have healing ministries on TV dress and act so strangely. I don’t know, and so, I just leave it alone. They won’t have to answer to me, anyway, but to the Master of us all. Part of Oral Roberts’ greatness in my eyes is that he maintained his common sense when he was anointed by the Lord. He let the power of God attract people, not any weird looks or behavior on his parts.
So, don’t throw away the baby with the bath water. Acknowledge what is of God and just move on with your life and forget the rest. Both you and that TV minister will stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Be prepared to be judged worthy of eternal life.
