Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Two of the most virulent forms of human self-hatred are murder and homosexuality. If everybody on earth committed themselves to those ways of living, the human race would cease to exist in very short order.
Various forms of self-love, when they grow to the extent that they are a detriment to the welfare of others, are obviously evil, but they cannot compare to the destructive power of self-hate.
Moreover, those forms of self-hatred are not merely expressions of hatred of self. They are also expressions of hatred for the One who made us. They are two supreme expressions of ingratitude to the One who wanted us, loved us, and brought us into being. Where there is such hatred of the God of our lives, there can be no genuine love, nor boundaries of decency beyond which men will not go.
