Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Talk About God

From conversations with Preacher Clark in the mid-1970’s.

Preacher Clark often told us that if God’s children would speak only of the things that God has actually done for them, they would all be together. What God does for His precious people heals and unites; the doctrines and traditions of men divide God’s people. Every division that exists among God’s children exists because instead of speaking from their own experience with God, they repeat what men have taught them to say. It is by the blood of Christ and by “the word of their testimony” that the children of God overcome the world. It is by the word of men that the world has overcome and divided God’s children.

Stop and ask yourself, the next time you are about to say anything to anyone about Jesus, “Am I telling what I know from my own experience from God, or am I just repeating something a man has told me to say?” Speaking from your own experience is safe; repeating what someone else tells you that you ought to say is dangerous; and it can be deadly.
