Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Not Prepared

Until you know the truth in your heart, you are not prepared to hear a lie. Without the truth in your heart, you have no measuring stick, no standard, by which to judge anything that you hear or read.

Until you know the Bible well, you are not prepared to read commentaries on it. You cannot know what the commentator is leaving out, or what he is adding to the holy Scriptures.

Until you know the Spirit of God, you are not prepared to live in this world. Without the compass of God within your soul, you have no idea how to live a holy life. In fact, without the compass of God in your soul, there is no right way for you to go; without that holy guide, you cannot possibly do or say or feel or think anything holy or just. The holy Ghost is the only source of true wisdom and knowledge for us.

Until you know that you need God, you will not be humble enough to hear His voice, or humble enough to obey Him when you do. To do battle with the vicious and cunning spirits of this age, we must be equipped. I have seen many over the years who were full of confidence but lacked wisdom and spiritual strength; these people always fall into sin and rebellion because they are not prepared to discern and overcome the spirits around them. Paul warned us to put on the military equipment necessary to win the real battle of life; he knew that without it, we would not be prepared to face the enemy:

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore, take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Eph. 6:11-18).

Get ready. Life on this wicked planet is coming at you today.
