Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Years ago, a heavily burdened woman came to our meetings confessing that she was tormented with fears that whenever she was at home, someone was secretly watching and listening to her. I felt a little jealous and replied to her, “I wish my house was bugged. Maybe whoever was secretly listening to me would learn the truth.”
But in reality, Somebody is listening and watching, every moment. Could it have been that the tormented woman was sensing His presence and felt a sense of guilt that brought fear into her heart?
It is a wonderful thing to the saints of God to understand that Someone is always watching and listening; for we know who that Someone is. How helpless we would be if He were not watching over us! When we understand that the One who is “secretly” listening to us is not an enemy but that He loves us and is protecting us every moment, we will not have a fearful attitude about being watched and heard.
