Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Being In Your Place

From one of Pastor John’s Old Testament classes, June 27, 2004.

Do you know how to find your place in the body of Christ? Here is the answer: You don’t have to find your place in the body. (Isn’t that a great relief?) It is simply a matter of living in the Spirit, of functioning as the Spirit leads you. God will “find your place” for you and put you in it as you move under the power of His Spirit. Your place in Christ will just happen to you as you follow the Spirit day by day!

If you are not “in the Spirit”, you are a stumbling block to everyone you meet and your place will never come to you. If you are in the Spirit, you are a blessing to everyone you meet, and your place is on the way – if it is not upon you already.

Don’t think about it. Just enjoy life in the Spirit and see what it is that you find God doing with your life.

And one last word. Do not be disappointed if your place turns out not to be something for television. God’s people are in desperate need of examples of godly, stable lives. The longer I live, the more precious seem the souls who are truly content with godliness. Being normal, I have learned, is a rare and undervalued condition among people on this earth, and if you have been anointed just to be happy and clean as an example for the people you meet everyday, you are a rare, sparkling jewel in this dark world of discontent spirits.
