Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

SAFETY

“Safety is of the LORD”, sang the Psalmist. But that is not all that he intended for us to understand. If he could re-write that verse for our time, he might emphasize the deeper meaning of that verse by singing, “Safety is only of the Lord.”

When God was about to bring Israel into Canaan’s land, He warned His people that He was about to bless them as they had never been blessed before. Then He went on to plead with them that, when He poured out the promised blessings, they would not forget Him. But, alas, Israel did forget Him. In time, they came to trust in other gods to guide and protect them, and they were destroyed. Safety is only of the Lord.

To trust in the Lord includes trusting Him to keep you. We all know that. But the secret of wisdom is that to truly trust in the Lord means to trust nothing but Him.
