Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

From a letter from a sister, asking what true humility is.
In the kingdom of God, humility is demonstrated by doing the will of God instead of doing your own will. Jesus was “meek and lowly” toward men when he lived on earth because that was the will of God for him at that time. However, when Jesus returns, the will of God for him will not be to “turn the other cheek”; instead, it will be to slay many hundreds of thousands of the Beast’s army and to rule “with a rod of iron” over the nations of the earth. And Jesus will do that because he is humble; he always chooses to do the will of the Father.
Jesus’ submitting to abuse and crucifixion is an example of humility. Paul’s testifying in Caesar’s palace is another example of humility. Noah built the ark as an example of humility. David slew Goliath and the prophet Samuel cut wicked Agag into pieces because that was the will of God, and they humbled themselves to do His will. Will we be like those righteous men of faith and humble ourselves to do the will of God instead of our own will?
You can always tell who is humble as long as you can tell who is doing the will of God. The proud consider their own ways to be better than the way of the Spirit. But the humble understand that what God says is more important than what any man or woman thinks or desires.
