Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Thought for Today
Nov. 06

"CHURCHES ARE EARTHLY BUILDINGS, AND GOD IS NOT IN THEM!"

God doesn't dwell in buildings that men build (Acts 7:48). God's dwelling is in heaven and, in spirit, He also lives in His people. Men build churches, but God doesn't move into them when they do. He knows where He belongs. Only He can make a place fit for Him to dwell.

On earth, God's building is people, the ones who have been sanctified by the holy Spirit. God created this building on the day of Pentecost when he poured out His Spirit on about one hundred twenty followers of Jesus, and they began to speak in tongues. Since that time, He has been continually adding to His building by baptizing others with the Spirit.

Paul said that God's building is built upon the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief foundation stone (Eph. 2:20). These were the first men God used to create His earthly building, and that is the only building inhabited by God.

Men can't build a building big enough or pretty enough to fool God into thinking that is where He lives. Can they fool you?
