Jesus said, "You must be born again"(Jn 3:7). God's family is something into which we are born in spirit. This new birth, which Jesus said we must have, is often called the "baptism of the holy Ghost" (e. g. Acts 1:5; 2:1-4). This baptism is the only way that we can become a member of God's family (1Cor. 12:13). We can join religious organizations, but we cannot join God's family. If we want to be in God's family, we must believe in Jesus and repent of our sins. Then, Jesus baptizes us with God's Spirit, and we are born again-a member of the only body of believers that counts with God.
