To receive Christ is to receive hope of eternal life. His presence in our hearts gives us hope of salvation. When Jesus returns for us to bring us salvation, we will have no more hope because there will be nothing else to hope for.
We might say, then, that the goal of our life in Christ is to attain to hopelessness; that is, to have our hope of salvation fulfilled. One thing is certain: as long as we possess this hope of salvation, we have not received the salvation we hope for.
