Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

“Love is patient and is kind; love does not envy; love is not boastful; nor is it puffed up; nor is it indecent; nor does it seek its own; nor is it short-tempered; nor does it keep an account of wrong; nor does it rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it quietly bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things.
1Corinthians 13:4–7
The love of God gives people every chance to be good. It actually puts pressure on people to be good by assuming the best about them.
There is an old saying that goes, “Love is blind.” That may be true of carnal, human love, but it is not true of the love of God. God’s love is not blind to anything. It is so strong and true that it can bear to see us the way we really are and still love us. Human love, to stay true, must often pretend that it does not see what it sees. God’s love pretends nothing and sees everything. It is real, and it is unchanging. Its first thought about anyone is something good, not evil, and it always prefers to give people a chance and hope that the best of anyone is what is really true about him.
