Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Jesus said, "Strive to enter in at the strait gate, for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able" (Lk. 13:24). What an amazing comment by Jesus! Just think about it. Many shall strive to enter into eternal life but will not be allowed into the door. They will be "weighed in the balances and found wanting".
This statement from Jesus can at first seem to be discouraging, but it does not mean that YOU will fail to be judged worthy of eternal life. It only means that somebody will. The wise will take Jesus' warning to heart, will learn to fear God, and will benefit from being warned.
Don't be disheartened. Jesus' point was not to discourage us from striving to do the will of God. Paul said that we "through much tribulation must enter into the kingdom of God", and again, "If we suffer with him, we shall reign with him." So, let us be sure to do as Paul told Timothy that he himself had done, "Fight the good fight of faith".
You want to attain to eternal life with Christ. Then go for it! The only sure way to fail is not to try at all.
