In a sermon in about 1974, my father said, “If you don’t go to where God sends you, what difference does it make where you are? If the owner of a factory has a worker who doesn’t show up for work, what difference does it make to the owner where he is? He’s not at work; that’s all that matters to the owner.”
That is so true! When you think about it, what difference did it make whether Jonah tried to escape the call of God by taking that ship to Tarshish or by riding on a camel across the desert? Either way, Jonah was not in Nineveh, where God had sent him.
Anywhere except where we are supposed to be is wrong.
