HELL IS REAL

From a sermon by Preacher Clark at Grandma's house, early in 1969.

You have heard about the proverbial "hell-fire and brimstone" preacher. Many jokes and sarcastic comments have been made about such men, but I wish there were more of them. People need to be warned.

Hell is no joke. It is a real place, more real than this transitory earth, and it is, at this moment, the dreadful home of most of the human race that has already lived and died. We know this because Jesus said that the majority of humans follow the broad road that leads to everlasting destruction and that just a few find the narrow way to eternal life (Mt. 7:13-14).

We, the living, have but two choices in this life: either to obey God while we live and be blessed forever or to disobey God and be cast into the unquenchable flames of the Lake of Fire in the end.

During that long-ago prayer meeting in Grandma's living room, Preacher Clark said it this way: "You're going to be sanctified or you're going to be terrified."

May God help us to humble ourselves and receive His mercy and love while we still can.
