The Spirit of Abortion

One cannot listen to many Christian sermons without hearing a passionate cry against the sin of abortion. Certainly abortion (the taking of a baby's life while it is yet in the womb) is a hideous crime. It is the destruction of the most helpless of God's creatures, the slaughter of a precious, defenseless life, the cruel butchery of the truly innocent.

God strictly warned His people not to "shed innocent blood". An unborn child is among the most innocent of all beings, and thus, the act of abortion is a very great wickedness: "Keep thee far from a false matter, and the innocent and righteous slay not, for I will not justify the wicked" (Ex. 23:7).

God hates abortion and the hands of all who participate in it: "These things doth the Lord hate: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood . . ." (Prov. 6:16-17). The shedding of innocent blood brings severe punishment. God dethroned king Manasseh because, among other things, he shed innocent blood (2Kgs. 24:4). Saul was removed as king and slain after he pursued young David, to shed his innocent blood (1Sam. 19:4-5). Judas the betrayer, sensing the coming wrath of God, fled to Israel's high priest, crying, "I have shed innocent blood!" But not even God's high priest could help him, for he had helped wicked men to shed the innocent blood of God's Son.

Moses told Israel, "So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord" (Dt. 21:9). We stop shedding innocent blood only when we receive God's commandments and learn to do what is right in His sight.

Spiritual Abortion

In this nation and around the world, the innocent blood of millions of aborted babies screams to God for vengeance. And they will be avenged. But a greater cry than theirs is reaching the ears of God, and that is the blood of innocent souls being slain by SPIRITUAL ABORTION. Many ministers' hands are deeply stained with the blood of souls they have aborted! Please let me explain what I mean.

Spiritual Conception

Naturally speaking, a human is conceived in the womb by man's fleshly, corruptible "seed". However, in the spiritual realm, according to Jesus, "the seed is the Word of God" (Lk. 8:11). This means that in spirit, we are conceived and born "not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God." Yes, God's Word is the seed that begins the process of spiritual life in souls who hear the gospel and believe, "for faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Rom. 10:17).

A sinner's heart receives the Word of God by believing it when he hears it. It is at the moment of believing the Word that he is spiritually conceived. But the baby is not born yet, for spiritual birth comes later, just as in nature. The conceived child of God (after a time of development) must come out of the womb to be born! Abortion, whether natural or spiritual, is the act of destroying a life that has been conceived but has not had time to come to the birth. So, how is it that ministers do this? How do they perform spiritual abortions and shed the innocent blood of unborn children of God?

God's unborn babies are those who are conceived by the Word and feel conviction for sin. But if they are persuaded to believe that they do not need the new birth and that they are born again merely because they heard the Word and believed it, then it is as if they are stolen out of the womb, for their growth toward spiritual birth is ended. Such souls really have been aborted, spiritually speaking, settling for being "good Christians" instead of becoming children of God by receiving the baptism of the Spirit!

Spiritual Birth

Jesus said, "Ye must be born again" - not just conceived - to enter the kingdom of God. When does this spiritual birth occur? Which experience among the many that we may have with Christ is the new birth? Spiritual abortionists teach that the conception (conviction for sin) is the birth! Such doctrine discourages souls from continuing in the Word to receive the new birth; it is the knife used by spiritual abortionists to end the incipient life of God's unborn children. Christian ministers have aborted untold millions of unborn souls who believed the story of Jesus, and they do it by persuading them that they do not need the holy Ghost baptism, the experience of spiritual birth.

The Scriptures are clear as to when and how one is born spiritually. Paul compared spiritual birth with natural birth when he wrote, "You have received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God" (Rom. 8:15-16). So, as in human births, the first sign of spiritual life is a cry! In God's kingdom, it is the cry of the Spirit, and it is heard every time someone is baptized with the holy Ghost (Jn. 3:8). Receiving the Spirit makes us children of God, not merely being convicted of sin! Remember, Paul said "if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

Christianity itself is most guilty of the sin of abortion - abortion of unborn children of God. It is evil for Christian ministers to persuade people who are hungering for God that they have been born again before they receive the baptism of the holy Ghost! If those souls receive that lie about the new birth and stop pursuing "righteousness, peace, and joy in the holy Ghost", they will have been aborted, for their growth in the womb toward the new birth will have been interrupted.

Spiritual birth occurs when one receives the baptism of the holy Ghost and speaks in tongues (or has what the Bible calls "stammering lips"). If you have been told there is any other way to be born into God's family, you are hearing the doctrine of the master abortionist himself - Satan. Any spirit that does not confess Christ (in "stammering lips" or "other tongues") is an antichrist spirit. Listen to John: "By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. This is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come, and even now already is it in the world" (1Jn. 4:2-3).

Notice that John said every spirit that confesses Christ is the real spirit of God. We all know that people can confess all sorts of things about the Lord and not belong to him at all. But the real Spirit of God "bears witness with our spirit" that Christ has come into our fleshly temple. It is as Jesus said when explaining the new birth to Nicodemus: "You hear the sound thereof."

It is the Spirit, not us, that testifies when we are truly born again. Paul insisted that "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the holy Ghost" (1Cor. 12:3). Isaiah foretold that speaking in tongues, or "stammering lips", would be God's true rest for His people (28:11-12), and Jesus said he is the one who would give us that spiritual rest (Mt. 11:28). Zephaniah said that when a pure language is given to God's people, they would "call upon His name" and work together in God (3:9).

A True Story

A perfect example of spiritual abortion can be demonstrated through a true story (I have changed the victim's name), which I believe is common in the lives of countless souls, whose innocent blood is now on the hands of religious leaders and teachers, the abortionists of the spiritual world.

I met Chris at a park one day while we were out sharing gospel tracts and preaching to passers-by. He took one of my tracts and thanked me for it. There was a helplessness in his eyes. He mumbled something vague about his problems and walked away. As he was leaving the park, the holy Ghost prompted me to go after him, for I felt that if I did not, Chris might not live very long. After I caught up with him, I asked him if he wanted to talk, and he poured out his heart. He told me that he was contemplating suicide. He felt there was no hope for him. He had lost everything and was now on drugs. But we agreed to pray and ask God for help. As we did, tears began to roll down his cheeks. God was touching him. It was an undeniable work of God in Chris' life, and he knew it. He started coming to the small services we held for the homeless and drug addicted people of the area.

After a while, Chris' life turned around dramatically. He started reading the Bible and was reaching out and bringing others to the services. It was easy to see the change in his life. But Chris knew something was missing, for his experiences were "up and down". People all around him were telling him he was born again because of his love for Jesus and the changes they saw in him. But Chris was struggling to "come out of the womb" into a life which he did not yet have. The Word had been sown in his heart, but he had not received the holy Ghost, "the Spirit that gives life." Chris would pray for the baptism of the holy Ghost but could not press in to receive it. Why? Because well-meaning Christians were telling him he already had the Spirit since he had "accepted Jesus". They were telling him that he was already born again, and so, he did not need to receive the baptism of the holy Ghost - the new birth experience! Chris was being aborted! He was robbed of real life, and left to attempt to live and work for God without ever emerging from the womb. It is impossible to walk with God while still in the womb.

Where is Chris today? He is going from place to place looking for life. But in every church, he is told by spiritual abortionists that he is born already. Chris needs the truth, and I can only pray that he will overcome those men who tell him he is born of the Spirit without receiving the holy Ghost baptism, which alone can make him a child of God.

The Baptism Is The Birth

If any man ever told you that you were born again before experiencing the baptism of the holy Ghost, that man was an abortionist! He was reaching into your heart to remove the holy seed of life that compels us to continue in the Word until we are baptized into Christ. Do you remember how it felt to be told you were born again, even though you were not certain? Don't stop short of Spirit baptism! Don't let men abort you!

Many Christian ministers denounce human abortion, but for them to tell people about Jesus and then to discourage them from seeking the holy Ghost baptism is to practice spiritual abortion! The seed of God can be planted in hearts and then be destroyed by the same men who planted the seed, if those men quench a repentant soul's desire to receive the holy Ghost. The sowing of the seed (preaching the gospel) may result in conception, but the holy Ghost baptism is the birth! My dear fellow servants of Christ, please do not hinder with your doctrine the holy process that begins when a soul is convicted of sin. If you do, there will be precious blood on your hands, the blood of aborted children of God! Many ministers, ignorant of what they are doing, rail against the sin of abortion while persuading people that they are born again without receiving the holy Ghost, thus aborting the souls that have begun their journey toward God. Such ministers have unknowingly aborted many innocent souls, robbing God of offspring He loved.

If you teach that the holy Ghost baptism is not the new birth, or if you are under the influence of such teaching, turn from your error so that God will wash your hands clean of the guilt of innocent blood.
