Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

“I Am Not Lying!”

Now, before God, I am not lying in the things I am writing to you.”
Paul, in Galatians 1:20

Paul had come to the territory of the Galatians and brought them great love and light. They were delivered from the pit of idol worship, and the bondage of deep spiritual darkness. Their sins were washed away by the cleansing power of the holy Ghost, and they received spiritual gifts and power. Paul was God’s instrument for reaching the Galatians with His love and His great wisdom. In this letter, Paul reminded the Galatians that when he first came to them, they were so grateful for the gospel he brought to them that, if he had needed their eyes, they would have “dug them out” and given them to him.

But now, something had happened to those saints, and Paul finds himself pleading with them to believe that he is not lying. How could things have changed so much? What had happened to those precious saints? We need to know what happened to them and to learn from it, for the love of God can be stolen from our hearts by false teachers who know how to appear holier than the men who really are.
