Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

God Is Humbler Than Man

When a proud man is granted grace to humble himself before God, he afterward faces another challenge: becoming proud of being humble. My father taught us that the biggest spiritual problem among God’s people “is that they have become proud of their humility.” When we become proud of how humble we once were, we can no longer be taught.

Why should people make a big “to-do” over humbling themselves before God, when God has humbled Himself so far down as to consider man at all? Between God and man, God is far humbler. Pride is anathema to His character.

Because God is never proud, those who follow Him cannot be proud. Pride is not anywhere to be found in the way of righteousness.
