Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

Saving Love

Dear Bro. John:

God has been teaching me this week that “salvation is what is happening while we are loving and being loved by God.” And God even took me a little bit further and helped me understand all the more the difference between Christian love (love of the world) and God’s love.

I once again was listening to the “New Birth” series and you were talking about the spiritual condition of the disciples before they received the holy Ghost. You were talking about how, before God put His Spirit in them, they loved Jesus and God, they believed Jesus was the Son of God, but the love that they had BEFORE receiving the holy Ghost was not the same kind of love that they had AFTER God put His Spirit IN them (John 17:26; Rom. 5:5). They loved the only way they knew how to love before receiving the Spirit, but it was not the same kind of love as after they received God’s Spirit. After that, you said, it became “saving love.”

Jesus passed out that “saving love”, Bro. John. He touched hearts and gave comfort and hope and compassion. The love that the world gives is fleeting and cannot bring relief and comfort that the heart is in need of and crying out for. The “saving love” of Jesus does more than save just one - it is felt by all who are around whether they admit it or not. The hearts that need it the most are ready when it comes and welcome the relief it brings.

God has helped me this week to understand the difference between Christian love and God’s saving love. The first will leave you empty; the second will fill you up. Praise God!

“Saving love – my, it is so good to me! Can you imagine? Once I thought I was ‘saved’ ”. Now I am just loving being saved - every day - by God’s saving love.

Sister Sandy :)

P.S. The new “Night Music” CD that we all listened to tonight in your office was beautiful. There really are no words to describe the feelings brought on by this music. I’m just thankful that I have two ears to hear it and two hands to praise and thank Him for all He has done.
