Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

The Same Message

From a sermon by Preacher Clark, late 1969

God is not the author of confusion”, wrote Paul. That means that He is not going to send one man with a message that contradicts what He sends another man to preach. As an indignant Paul once demanded of the Corinthians, “Is Christ divided?” The answer, of course, is “no”.

There would be no sects, no denominations for God’s people to join if their founders had been of God. If God had sent the founders of those sects to teach, they would all have taught the same thing. The reason Christians have Baptist religion, Mormon religion, Methodist religion, Apostolic religion, Catholic religion, etc., is because somebody was, or rather, many somebodies were deceived by Satan to think they had heard from God when they had not. There is only “one faith” because there is only one God, and that one faith is the faith that is revealed by the one holy Spirit. Every other doctrine about God is wrong and leads only to more division and confusion.

Preacher Clark said it this way: “If God anoints you to preach, He’s going to give you the same message He gives another one that He anoints.” If God sent men out to teach conflicting and contradictory doctrines, He would be the master of confusion. But He is not. He is the master of harmony. If God sends two or two thousand men out to preach, He gives every one of them the same message because there is only one Redeemer and one gospel about Him that will save.
