Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

DOING GOOD AND DOING EVIL

Everyone who is doing good is doing more good than he knows.

Long after the righteous king Josiah died, men who as children witnessed his zeal for God’s Law were still following his faithful example. The young hearts of Jeremiah, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshech, Abednego, Mordecai, and possibly even Ezekiel, were touched and shaped, at least in part, by Josiah’s love for God. Think of the inspiring acts of faith in the midst of persecution that those men provided for us, and they all learned to trust God as children, by watching young Josiah’s courageous example, even though he probably didn’t know a single one of them personally.

We will only find out later, when all things are made known, how many hearts and lives we have touched by our obedience to Christ. But this we can know now, that if we are doing the will of God, then we are doing much more good than we know, for more individuals than we imagine.
