Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Therefore, let us go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.  For we have no continuing city here, but we seek one to come.

HOW TO ACHIEVE UNITY

From conversations with Preacher Clark, late 1970’s

God’s people are divided by ideas. It is not their experiences with Christ that divide them, but wrong ideas about God. Unity in the body of Christ is easily attainable, but in order to attain it, we must abandon ideas and testify only to what we have personally experienced with Jesus.

“If God’s people would talk about nothing except what they have experienced with Jesus, we would all be together.” That is what preacher Clark often told us, and I believe it more now than ever. The works of God unite; the ideas of men divide. When you pray, ask Jesus to deliver you from your own opinion. If he does that for you, you will know the truth because you will experience it, “and the truth will make you free”!

When you talk with people about God, what do you talk about? Do you speak of what Jesus has done to you, or do your words communicate only what a minister has told you about Jesus?

“The only preaching Jesus ever did”, said Preacher Clark, “was to explain what he was doing. That’s all the preaching any real man of God ever needs to do.” And from conversations with my father, I learned also that the only testifying that any of God’s children need to do is to confess their own experiences with the grace of God. If all of God’s children would do that, and only that, we would all be together in perfect harmony because fellowship in the light is the result of what God does.
